WELCOME TO THE PROBATE NATION!

The underlying mission of The Probate Nation is to serve the needs of the many lay people who take on the enormous responsibility of probating the estate of a loved one who has passed. What you will find on the pages of this site are resources and practical explanations that serve to supplement and enhance the many resources posted on the various Circuit Court and Commissioner of Accounts websites across Northern Virginia. Collectively these resources offer executors and administrators a road map on what they should and should not do to make their probate journey go smoothly.

But the administration of an estate is a complicated process. All who serve as executor or administrator are advised to consult with a probate attorney and tax professional early in the process so you avoid common and often costly miscues. Nothing provided on this website offers or is intended to serve as a substitute for legal and tax advice from a duly licensed professional you have retained to represent the estate you are probating as a fiduciary.

Good luck on your probate journey !
